We searched for over a year to find the smallest and lightest line that would work with these type line locks in ALL conditions: wet, dry, frozen, etc. The spectra core means high strength and no stretch and the special weave sheath grips the small lock and never slips.

For Most Solo and many Duo Tarps, we suggest cutting the line to these lengths to start:
Front Corners: 5'
Rear Corners: 4'
Center Side: 4'
Front Ridgeline: 7.5'
Rear Ridgeline: 6.5'

NOTE: This line is too small to use in the MLD standard 3mm LineLocks that are sewn on our tarps and shelters. This line is in case you want to cut the weight even more and cut off the 3mm style sewn on linelocks and then sue the smaller Mini Linelocks.

The line locks will hold about 75lbs of continuous pull with this line. This is way more force than most any strong wind will put on one tie out. If you test it to failure it will slip through the linelock wearing a groove and no longer hold as well. Do not test them to failure.

Some users tie a single overhand knot at various fixed points in the line to act as a preset length. The small knot will pass freely through the linelocks yet jam securely at the cinch to act as a set stop. This technique can also be used for really high no slip strength up to about 150+lbs.

When you set up the linelocks, see the pic below to thread it correctly. Note the one single overhand knot used at the end of the line. Tie the knot and pull it very tight. Cut the line past the knot it off leaving a 1/8" tail. Use a lighter to melt the tail and then before it cools press it flat into the knot. A tail or knot that is too big/tall will prevent the running line seating into the V groove deep enough to hold well.

60' of Line + 12 Mini Linelocks (Pictured) +$8
Recommended for larger Duo tarps or if using more than 8 tie out points with longer line lengths.
