No other headlamp I know of is waterproof, shock proof and bright enough for fast forward foot sports. It's super rugged, uses common Lithium, Alkaline and rechargeable AAA's. It has long burn times and nice beam power selections + good beam angle down the trail. It's one of the very very low weights for it's class. It's time tested. I use this light on all my trips including backpacking, night trail running, short route night climbing, bike helmet and even night roadside car repair. It's done it all for me. It's always with me in the pack or glovebox. I would not bring this light into the MLD shop unless I felt it was SOLID.
