Features
ClimaShield Apex
New for 2010 - replaces Climashield XP. 5-10% more thermal efficiency than XP. APEX is the most thermally efficient synthetic insulation avialable. It drapes, compresses and recovers very well does not requiring through quilting which eliminating sewn thorugh cold spots. Many other synthetic insulations require some sewing of the insulation to the bag shell to prevent shifting or tearing or use of a heavy scrim stablization layer that can be stiff.
• Momentum top fabrics: The very best lightweight sleeping bag fabric available. See Fabrics Mojo Page. Momentum is an important part of the thermal equation. The liner and shell slow heat transfer and boost the the overall warmth rating. BY using Momentum 20d we bost the rating +5 degree vs a very slightly lighter but "drafty" liner and shell.
• OPTION : eVENT FOOT AND HEAD STRIP Total water resistance while still having excellent breathability. eVENT is more breathable than Goretex or Pertex Endurance. The foot area is where many users report they getting wet from contacting condensation on a shelter wall, accidentally hanging the foot outside the tarp or shelter or when using a short sleep pad and the bag contacts the damp ground. The eVENT head strip prevents exhaled moisture from condensing into the insulation. THIS IS A CUSTOM NON RETURNABLE OPTION.
• Can be used over ALL other bags to boost temp ratings because the foot and leg circumference can be adjusted - unlike a fixed foot box quilt. Use it over a 2 or 3 season down bag for full winter temps. The leg and foot area snap points have webbing loops that can be used with bungee for setting it wide over a high loft inner bag. True variable girth over the entire length. This system also helps keep the down inner bag dry. In below freezing weather- insensible perspiration from your body cools as it moves through the sleep system and condenses back to liquid water near the colder outer surface. By using a synthetic quilt over a down inner bag, the down bag stays dry and the synthetic quilt dries fast and retains most of it's insulation when wet.
• Corner webbing loops for use as a hammock under quilt.
• Foot box and lower leg area is larger than many other lightweight quilts.
• Anchored no-fumble cord locks at each end.
• 24" soft velcro strips make a tight seal for lower legs.
• One back straps with long webbing to secure under a sleep pad. Sleep pads connection system supplied to make it easy to clip on and off and keeps it fixed to a sleep pad.
• Opens Completely Flat for maximum versatility in warm weather and much faster drying of the foot box.
• Quilt can be reversed to use inside out if one side gets wet.
• Cord sleeves built from a special weight Epic fabric: Tough, highly water resistant and the inside is silicone treated for an easy bungee cord slide and a LONG service life. Exhalation won't condense on or in the cord sleeve and freeze.
• Foot box vent plug for the Spirit 30 - Prevents heat loss through the tiny gap after cinching the foot box closed.
